The Creation of the Ku Klux Klan

The Creation
The Klu Klux Klan also known as the KKK, is a white supremacist group that hates people who are black, Jewish and other minorities. The KKK intimidates and opposes the Roman Catholics and labor unions(Organization of workers who have banned together to achieve common goals in key areas such as wages, hours and other working conditions). The KKK was founded in Tennessee in 1865 by six middle-class veterans of the Confederate Army, it was created right after the American Civil War. The KKK was Created because the six veterans were very angry, that many Blacks won their freedom in the Civil War. The KKK members felt threatened because they thought the Blacks were going to get much more powerful with their freedom. At little less than 100 years later a brand new klan created (1960s), this Klan was more powerful than any other one (previously two klans, now three). The Klan was created because more white supremacists were upset about the two new laws that were created for the African Americans (The Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act).

Buddy Dean Show

The Buddy Deane Show was a show from the late 50's to the mid 60's. The show was a teen dance television show, similar to Philadelphia's American Bandstand. Winston "Buddy" Deane was a broadcaster for more than fifty years, beginning his career in Little Rock, Arkansas, then moving to the Memphis, Tennessee, market before moving onto Baltimore where he worked at a radio station. He was one of the first disc jockeys in the area to regularly feature rock and roll. His dance party television show debuted in 1957 and was, for a time, it was the most popular local show in the United States. It aired for two and a half hours a day, six days a week, thats how good it was. Buddy Deane show consisted of only white people and he expressed to many people we wanted it to be mixed with whites and blacks. Since Dean wanted to do that, the show was taken off the air because home station WJZ didn't want to integrate black and white dancers. The Buddy Dean Show is also the same show featured in the hit movie and broadway show Hairspary but as a different name, the Corny Collins show. Now because of Buddy Dean Blacks and Whites can now be together.

Civil Rights

On July 2nd, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson convinced the Congress to pass the Civil Rights Act, which outlawed most forms of racial segregation. Supposedly people say Johnson did this because, "We have lost the South for a generation," many of the Southern whites didn't like this and went against Johnson's Democratic Party.
This stop every ounce of slavery. This outlawed discrimination in employment and in public facilities. It gave the federal government greater power to enforce the desegregation of schools.
